Education

CHAT’s education programs help immigrant and refugee students in grades K–12 adapt, connect, and thrive in their new environment. Through social-emotional learning, cultural activities, and academic support, we provide students with the skills and confidence they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom. Our programs, offered in partnership with local schools, include engaging activities such as art, STEM, and social skills workshops, helping students embrace their heritage and grow in a supportive space.

Whether you volunteer, donate, or partner with CHAT, your support makes a difference in the lives of these young learners. Together, we can empower every student to grow, learn, and succeed. Ready to get involved? Contact us at chat@maaa.org to learn more!

In partnership with local schools, CHAT Academy provides culturally responsive educational support, making learning accessible and engaging for immigrant and refugee students. Through language-matching and a stable school-based environment, students build confidence, develop study skills, and reduce school-related stress. Activities such as art, crafts, photography, and STEM workshops foster both academic growth and creativity, creating a “space for success.”
Girls’ Club for Success offers a structured program to help immigrant and refugee girls build social and emotional skills. Following a Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and held at local schools, the program equips girls with tools to handle school and social challenges. Workshops cover topics like self-image, community, resilience, and wellness. Creative approaches, including storytelling, art, and physical activities, make it easier for girls to express themselves and build confidence.
Melting Pot brings together boys and girls in a multi-session program focused on social and emotional development. Based on SEL principles and held on-site at partner schools, Melting Pot helps students learn teamwork, cultural understanding, and communication. Interactive workshops and hands-on activities like art and movement foster a sense of belonging, allowing students from diverse backgrounds to learn and grow together.
Our Summer Camps provide a blend of education and entertainment, keeping the joy of learning alive during school breaks. Held at partner schools, these camps offer activities such as arts and crafts, STEM projects, and cultural exploration, allowing students to form friendships, explore interests, and strengthen skills like creativity and teamwork in a familiar and supportive setting.
Offered as part of CHAT Academy, Girls’ Club, Melting Pot, and Summer School, our Enrichment Classes provide creative outlets for students of all ages. Classes in art, theatre, dance, music, and photography encourage self-expression, build confidence, and foster personal growth. These classes go beyond fun—students gain valuable skills and a sense of connection with their peers.
