This past month, CHAT was honored to engage with our vibrant Houston community through events that highlight the heart of our mission: uplifting immigrant voices, celebrating cultural diversity, and building pathways to belonging. From the Naturalize Now, Houston! stakeholder meeting to lively events like the Mosaic Festival and BakerRipley’s International Festival, September was full of meaningful moments. Read on to see how CHAT showed up, connected with families, and continued laying the foundation for our 10th anniversary celebration in 2026.

United for Citizenship: Naturalize Now Stakeholder Meeting

A large group of people poses indoors in front of a "Naturalize Now Houston" banner with colorful balloons, under ornate columns and a clock on the wall.

Earlier this month, over 100 leaders from more than 40 organizations gathered at Houston Public Library’s historic Julia Ideson Building for the first quarterly Naturalize Now, Houston! stakeholder meeting. Hosted by National Partnership for New Americans in collaboration with Houston Immigration Legal Services Collective, National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, and local partners, the event provided a powerful space to share updates on citizenship efforts, examine policy developments, and coordinate strategies to better support eligible lawful permanent residents on their journey to US citizenship.

Community Building at the Mosaic Festival

A community health fair booth displays brochures, drawings, and informational materials on a bright yellow tablecloth, with a volunteer in a yellow shirt standing behind the table. Several attendees and other booths are visible in the background inside a gymnasium.

CHAT was proud to participate in the American Mosaic Festival at the Chinese Community Center alongside several other local organizations. This lively event brought together people from across Houston to celebrate cultural diversity through music, dance, food, art, community resources, raffles, and door prizes. It was a joyful day of connection and cultural pride, and we loved seeing so many families come out to celebrate what makes the city of Houston so unique.

CHAT’s 10th Anniversary: September Story Stones

At this year’s International Festival hosted by BakerRipley, CHAT invited families to reflect and create at our “September Story Stones” table. Guests painted small stones with cultural symbols, words of encouragement, and personal artwork representing their heritage and hopes for the future. The festival was a beautiful celebration of Houston’s international spirit, and events like these are especially meaningful as we gear up to celebrate CHAT’s 10th anniversary in 2026!
