Culture of Health–Advancing Together (CHAT) is a community-focused program of Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA). Through education, arts, advocacy, and access to care, CHAT works to improve the health and well-being of communities in Houston. By focusing on things that affect health, like support, connections, and community, CHAT helps people feel less alone, adjust to new environments, and find resources in ways no other group in Houston does.

Make your tax-deductible gift today

CHAT uses the Givebutter donation platform, which allows you to give using a card, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, and more. Givebutter includes an optional tip to help keep its platform free for nonprofits. To remove it, open the percentage dropdown in the tip section, select “Other,” and enter $0 before completing your donation.

We also accept donations by mail (see address below) or installment payments. If you’d like to pledge a gift and fulfill it over time, please contact Tabitha Dunham, Director of Development, at giving@maaa.org.

A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) allows you to make charitable contributions, recommend grants over time, and receive an immediate tax deduction. DAFs remain a flexible way to support your favorite organizations while potentially growing your fund tax-free to increase the impact of your gifts.

Donate with DAFpay on Givebutter

You can now recommend a grant to CHAT using DAFpay through our Givebutter donation form. DAFpay connects securely to most major Donor-Advised Fund providers, making it easy to give from your fund online.

To donate through DAFpay:

  1. Use the donation form at the top of this page.
  2. Select “DAFpay” as your payment method.
  3. Follow the prompts to log in to your DAF provider and complete your gift.

Donating appreciated assets like stocks can help you make a meaningful impact and may offer tax benefits. Donating stock can allow you to avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated assets, ensuring the full value of your gift supports our mission.

Many employers offer matching gift programs that can double your support for CHAT through M-AAA.

  1. Check Your Eligibility: Ask your Human Resources department if your donation to M-AAA qualifies and review any requirements or deadlines.
  2. Make Your Gift: Use the donation form above or mail a check to the CHAT Houston office.
  3. Submit a Match Request: Each company’s process may vary, but typically includes:
    • Logging into your company’s matching gift portal.
    • Searching for Mid-America Arts Alliance using the information below:

    • Providing details such as your donation date, amount, and payment method. Be sure to designate your gift for “CHAT Program” if applicable.
    • Submitting the request for review! The company will review the request and determine whether to approve the matching donation. If needed, the company will reach out to M-AAA to confirm the donation.

You can help ensure a creative future for communities like those served by CHAT by making a legacy gift to Mid-America Arts Alliance. A bequest—the most common form of planned giving—is a provision in your will or trust that designates a specific amount or percentage of your estate to M-AAA. You may also designate your legacy gift specifically for CHAT.

You can create your will and make your bequest at no cost through a secure tool like FreeWill: www.freewill.com/will. You’ll be prompted to enter the details of your legacy gift during the process.
