From Training to Togetherness: CHAT’s Fall Highlights

A group of about fourteen adults pose for a photo in a meeting room, with some seated in the front row and others standing behind them against a plain wall. They are dressed in a mix of casual and business-casual attire, and tables with cups and personal items are visible on either side of the room.

This fall we have been focusing on learning, connection, and generosity at CHAT! Our team deepened our community engagement skills through the Community Navigator 101 training with the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA). That training will help us strengthen support for immigrant families in Houston. We also shared a beautiful cultural outing to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, with women from our Women’s Circles, celebrating art and heritage together. As the holiday season approaches, we invite you to give back to CHAT while you shop, to support our ongoing programs.

NPNA Community Navigator Training

The CHAT team attended the NPNA Community Navigator 101 Train-the-Trainer session, a hands-on workshop focused on empowering local leaders to better support immigrant communities. The training covered key topics such as building and growing a Community Navigator cohort in Houston, collaboration with local government partners, and Naturalization 101. Participants also engaged in goal setting and group practice to strengthen their skills. The CHAT team left inspired to apply these strategies in Houston, expanding our efforts to connect residents with resources and pathways to citizenship.

Give Back to CHAT While You Shop

Women and children sit around decorated tables in a bright community room with wood flooring and large windows, gathered for a celebration or potluck. Pastel balloons float above the tables, and colorful tablecloths and food trays create a festive atmosphere.

A Cultural Outing to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

We had the pleasure of taking a group of women from our Women’s Circles to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston! The visit was a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn, and experience the beauty of global artistry together.

The highlight of the day was a guided tour of the “Art of the Islamic Worlds” exhibition, where participants explored centuries of rich history, intricate craftsmanship, and cultural expression. The women shared that they enjoyed seeing how art serves as a bridge across time and traditions, deepening appreciation for both heritage and creativity.

It was a meaningful day filled with inspiration, conversation, and community. We’re grateful to everyone who joined and look forward to more shared experiences that celebrate art, culture, and connection!
